Kelt Exploration Ltd. is currently seeking applications for the position of Field HSER Advisor from qualified individuals. This Advisor will be positioned in Grande Prairie, AB with travel to all Kelt operation assets and field in AB and BC. The role is part of the Operations Team and will report directly to the Corporate HSER Coordinator and work closely with the Kelt Superintendent. The Advisor will be a health, safety, and regulatory professional, who will support our various business sectors with the coordination and administration of safety on and off project sites. This role requires vast experience in Safety and Health as the position will interact with drilling and completions, construction, plant operations and contract personnel. Be responsible for the supervision, coordination, and administration of safety on project sites as well as office settings.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include:
Work collaboratively with and support Kelts various departments with regards to the Health and Safety initiatives.
Compile leading and lagging indicator reporting, including guidance, and coaching to operations staff as needed.
Participate in the Field Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Work with operations to administer and manage safety orientations and on-boarding for all Kelt Workers and Consultants.
Work with all departments to ensure issuing/receiving of all critical safety documentation are administered and managed. Mentor and coach on the use and intent of all critical HSE forms and documents.
Assist with Safe Work Practices, SOP/COP review and development using the Keyera CMDS software.
Assist and support with Kelt Vendor Management System (ComplyWorks).
Support and or lead the investigation of safety, environmental and regulatory incidents.
Conduct regular inspections formal/informal to ensure compliance with all legislation and company policies, standards, procedures, and rules.
Actively identify improvement opportunities within all areas of safety, health, security and emergency preparedness with Operations. Facilitate the appropriate signoff upon resolution. When required, communicate learnings (i.e. safety bulletins, Hazard IDs, safety meeting discussion etc.)
Support operations and management in the achievement of corporate and field initiatives. This includes assisting with satisfying all requirements of the Safety Management System.
Assist the Operations Team with general, pre-job, project kick-off and regular safety meetings where practical. Supply information and provide guidance regarding meeting structure and content.
Assist in the maintenance of emergency response plans, training, standards, procedures, and site-specific work plans.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have an Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, NCSO, and/or a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST). A Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation (CRSP/CHSC) is considered an asset. ICS 200 incident command training or higher.
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have:
Good understanding of upstream oil and gas including, but not limited to facilities, pipeline construction, drilling, and completions.
An understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Regulations, IRP’s, Codes and how it pertains to daily field tasks in Alberta and BC.
The ability to represent the Company in front of Kelt workers in a professional and courteous manner.
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive HSE/Regulatory and or operations experience.
The ability to effectively communicate, be a self-starter and highly motivated.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365 Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Additional training in Kelt specific software will be provided. (ITRAK, Trakopolis, CMDS, Chemscape SDS Binder, Safety Line and ComplyWorks)
