The Organization
Our client is a Calgary-based public, oil/liquids-weighted energy company involved in the
development of low decline assets focused in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Their primary growth has
been through analysis, engineering, expansion of existing production, development and operations.
In addition, they will make accretive strategic acquisitions as they arise or generated internally.

Activities and Experience
The successful Engineering candidate will work independently and as an integral part of the
development team to help determine the technical and strategic direction of the company while
maximizing value.
Knowledge of how value is added to the shareholder is a must. The candidate must be able to
demonstrate leadership and initiative within the organization, be able to direct and work
effectively with staff and/or consultants, both in the Calgary and field offices. Specific
responsibilities include:
• Collaborative Subsurface Technical Interpretation: work with the team of production, operations,
field and G&G to reach the best possible technical interpretation and planning of a producing
field.
• Reservoir Surveillance: Monitor and analyze performance and pressure of existing wells, and make
recommendations for additional surveillance work, including cased hole logging, fluid analysis,
well testing, and core analysis programs.
• Understand production optimization: Provide guidance for optimizing immediate and long term
production, including recompletions, water shut off, pump optimization, pressure maintenance
schemes, and EOR studies.
• Asset Management: Construct development plans to maximize reserves capture and value over the
full life of the producing assets within concession expiry timeframes.
• Reserves Management: Identify opportunities that result in reserve additions, including wellbore
optimization and recompletions, forecasting, and numerical simulation. Assist in maintaining and
ensuring the accuracy and integrity of corporate reserves through the company’s internal reserves
tracking process and working with corporate reserves auditor during the annual reserves assessment
process.
• Project Studies: conduct and/or oversee longer term, more complex studies to determine ultimate
development and EOR strategies, including petrophysical evaluation, geostatistical modeling and
numerical simulation
• Data Capture: Ensure appropriate data is being delivered, QC’d, and archived in the company
database
• Budget: Work with the broader team to develop annual work program and budget, by providing
forecasts and economic evaluations where required
• Relationships: Work with the broader team to communicate the company’s business strategy, plans
and technical
viewpoints to partners and government bodies.
Experience
You have an Engineering Degree and are APEGA qualified with 10+ years of experience. You are a team
player who is responsive, communicative and willing to work with all parties within and external to
the organization. The successful candidate will also have the following experience:
• Progressive experience as an Asset Engineer with an attention to detail
• Conducted reservoir studies and associated economic studies
• Generated development and optimization plans, managed budgets and reserves
• Implemented and managed secondary and tertiary oil recovery schemes such as water, CO2 and
miscible floods
• “Classic” reservoir training in material balance, log analysis, WTA, reserves and simulation is
required. Familiar with Accumap, GeoScout, PVR and Verdazo
• Working knowledge of completions, artificial lift, wireline formation testing, and production
logging is required
