ANALYST, FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS – CALGARY
This position will provide pivotal support to our executive and senior leaders in the strategic planning process for Trican. We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual with capable analytical skills and business acumen to add to our small and impactful team.
The Financial Planning & Analysis team is responsible for building and maintaining the financial forecast, reporting on key financial metrics, assist in evaluating and developing corporate strategies and tracking industry trends. Additional responsibilities include providing guidance on large capital projects and performing sophisticated ad-hoc analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate capital projects. Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on pricing strategies and projected financial viability
- Lead financial assessment for corporate strategic planning and interpreting resulting impacts to Trican’s financial statements
- Engage with Executive group in development and preparation of reporting material for the Board of Directors
- Develop and present industry analysis reports to Trican’s leadership group, drive discussion on the industry trends and their influences on our business
- Support evaluation of M&A transactions and alternative growth strategies to advance the business in a competitive landscape
- Manage and review financial outlook and author summarized reports to management team on a regular basis
- Present monthly financial results, forecast and key performance indicators to business partners, including the Executive Team with an aim to provide insight and subsequent follow-up on insights provided
- Communicate regularly with various teams within Trican to understand and act upon changes in the operating environment or the larger economic environment
- Develop a deep and detailed understanding of our business and the competitive environment
Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree with Finance / Accounting preferred, with consideration given to programs of similar length if equivalency can be established
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly with a high attention to detail
- Knowledge of financial modeling techniques and programs including a high degree of proficiency using Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees, management, and customers
- Experienced in applying problem-solving techniques to complications that may arise
- Adaptive work style and able to handle competing priorities, challenging demands and function in a fast paced, dynamic work environment including the effective use of different negotiation styles
- Ability to work independently, producing quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding and knowledge of oil and gas industry and the service sector is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI or other analytical programs is an asset
