POSITION SUMMARY Apprentice Carpenters possess the full range of knowledge required to construct, renovate, and repair buildings and structures made out of wood, concrete and other materials and perform tasks related to building and construction layouts, reinforced concrete construction, formwork, or preparing large structures for treatments or finishes. PROJECT DETAILS Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project) Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Working with or making things with wood in the construction, installation or repair of structures or components of structures
- Preparing site and building layouts
- Constructing foundations and concrete structures
- Framing structure
- Applying interior and exterior finishes
- Reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications, building codes and related documentation
- Inspecting sub‑soil excavations of structures
- Shoring and underpinning of existing structures, parts of structures or excavations
- Laying out and erecting batter boards, building lines and setting elevations
- Installing, using, and dismantling personnel handling devices, scaffolds, ropes, slings, hoists on rigging installations, ladders, shoring, covered walkways, and barricades
- Assembling, erecting, installing and dismantling structures
- Setting up hoarding and other temporary structures
- Placement of precast concrete panels
- Building forms, installing concrete reinforcement materials, placing, and consolidating concrete and stripping forms
QUALIFICATIONS Education
- Must be a registered Apprentice with the appropriate provincial or federal authority
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Comfortable working outdoors
Safety Tickets Required
- CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO).
- Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
- Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training Certificate
- WHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding)
- Additional Training may be required if you will be working at heights, – Fall Protection, Arial Work Platform Training
- Telehandler training is required if you will be operating equipment.
