APPRENTICE HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC – RED DEER (RDC)
The Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical workings of all vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Trican’s core value, “We won’t put anyone in harm’s way” is the priority in all activities
- Read diagrams/schematics for work procedures
- Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery in a safe manner
- Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment
- Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble and maintain vehicles and perform other routine maintenance work
- Keep abreast of changes to industry standards
- Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced operators, or apprentice maintenance personnel
- Confer on a regular basis with the Base Manager on any operational deficiencies
- Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required
Experience & Skills:
- 2nd – 4th Year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice status required
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence required; Class 1 Driver’s licence is an asset
- 1-2 years’ industry experience
- High school diploma is an asset
- Safe driving skills; driver’s abstract will be requested
- Physically fit – heavy lifting required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Skilled in problem-solving techniques

Working Conditions:
- 8 days on/6 days off
- Must live near base of employment
