APPRENTICE HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC – RED DEER (RDC)

The Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical workings of all vehicles.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that Trican’s core value, “We won’t put anyone in harm’s way” is the priority in all activities
• Read diagrams/schematics for work procedures
• Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery in a safe manner
• Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment
• Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble and maintain vehicles and perform other routine maintenance work
• Keep abreast of changes to industry standards
• Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced operators, or apprentice maintenance personnel
• Confer on a regular basis with the Base Manager on any operational deficiencies
• Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required

Experience & Skills:

• 2nd – 4th Year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice status required
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence required; Class 1 Driver’s licence is an asset
• 1-2 years’ industry experience
• High school diploma is an asset
• Safe driving skills; driver’s abstract will be requested
• Physically fit – heavy lifting required
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Skilled in problem-solving techniques

Working Conditions:

• Must live near base of employment
