We are seeking a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) to oversee and implement erosion and sediment control (ESC) measures for a natural gas compressor station project in British Columbia. The CPESC will ensure compliance with applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations, including the BC Water Sustainability Act, Environmental Management Act, and Oil and Gas Activities Act, as enforced by the BC Energy Regulator (BCER) and local authorities.   PROJECT DETAILS

  • Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station
  • Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)
  • Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off
  • Travel pay: $400/shift
  • Camp retention: $25/day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and update Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCPs) in accordance with provincial standards and project-specific environmental management plans
  • Ensure ESC measures comply with BCER Environmental Protection and Management Guidelines, local government bylaws, and project-specific Environmental Assessment Certificate (EAC) conditions (if applicable)
  • Conduct routine site inspections during all phases of construction, particularly during high-risk activities such as vegetation clearing, grading, and earthworks
  • Monitor weather conditions and proactively adjust ESC measures to prevent sediment mobilization and protect sensitive environmental features such as streams, wetlands, and fish-bearing watercourses
  • Oversee the correct installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of best management practices (BMPs) including sediment fencing, diversion ditches, check dams, slope stabilization measures, and temporary stormwater management facilities
  • Ensure ESC measures are in place prior to initiating ground disturbance in proximity to environmentally sensitive areas
  • Communicate with BCER inspectors, qualified environmental professionals (QEPs), and First Nations environmental monitors to address field compliance issues
  • Prepare and submit ESC inspection reports, incident notifications, and non-compliance reports as required by regulatory permits and project approvals
  • Provide onsite training to contractors and construction personnel on erosion and sediment control protocols and environmental protection measures
  • Coordinate with the environmental team to integrate ESC practices into broader Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements

Qualifications:

  • CPESC certification in good standing
  • Minimum 3–5 years of ESC experience in infrastructure or energy sector projects in British Columbia
  • Working knowledge of BC provincial regulations, including:
    • BC Water Sustainability Act
    • Environmental Management Act
    • Oil and Gas Activities Act
    • BCER Environmental Protection and Management Regulation
  • Familiarity with Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR) and Fisheries Act (Canada) is an asset
  • Strong technical understanding of hydrology, slope stability, and erosion processes in BC’s diverse terrain and climates
  • Proficient with GPS-enabled inspection tools, Microsoft Office, and digital field data platforms (e.g., Field Maps, Survey123)

Safety Tickets Required

  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • WHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding)
