DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS – CALGARY (CAT)

We are seeking a strategic and analytical leader to head our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This team is responsible for driving financial clarity and actionable business insights across our operating divisions.  

The Director of FP&A will partner with divisional business unit leadership to drive informed decision-making through robust financial analysis, forecasting and budgeting, and divisional performance reporting. This role also supports senior corporate leaders through involvement in overall corporate performance reporting and strategy analysis, including M&A evaluation and support

Responsibilities:

Divisional & Operational Support

  • Act as a finance business partner to divisional leaders, leading divisional analysts and translating financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and performance commentary related to operational performance.
  • Manage the preparation of financial forecasts and capital budgets in alignment with corporate planning cycles.

Sales Strategy & Support

  • Develop a deep understanding of operations, KPIs, profitability drivers, and the competitive landscape.
  • Partner with the sales team on pricing analysis and profitability projections for jobs, projects, and customer segments.
  • Oversee detailed customer profitability analyses to assess performance and identify trends. 

 Corporate Support

  • Lead the development of annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts.
  • Conduct scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the impact of policy changes, industry trends, and macroeconomic shifts.
  • Provide insights on industry benchmarks and economic drivers.
  • Support corporate strategy, including M&A evaluations, competitive analysis, and growth planning.
  • Oversee the preparation of materials for and actively participate in meeting with the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders to anticipate operational and economic changes.

Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA, CFA, CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years in FP&A or Corporate Finance roles with progressive responsibility.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills with proficiency in Excel; Power BI experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication and ability to work with and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oil & gas or energy services experience is an advantage.
