Environmental Project Manager

OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a full-time Environmental Project Manager supporting the Permian Operation. The successful candidate must have exceptional project management skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate and develop rapport with clients and stakeholders. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing upstream oil and gas and industrial projects in accordance with Vertex guidelines and project scopes. Ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of spill response and environment assessments, with at least 7 years environmental consulting experience.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or University Degree in environmental science, reclamation, or another related field
  • Minimum 7 years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop rapport with clients and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
  • Strong Emergency spill response background
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Willingness to work in the field for extended periods of time; willingness to travel
  • Environmental experience within the Oil and Gas, Energy, and Infrastructure industries required
  • Experience within Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas are considered an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and maintaining key relationships with clients
  • Develop and manage project-specific budgets in alignment with each project’s unique scope and strategy
  • Plan, organize, schedule, and coordinate all assigned project activities, including mobilization, demobilization, manpower requirements, scheduling of equipment, materials, and facilities to ensure work is executed efficiently and effectively
  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate technical staff
  • Implement and promote Vertex’s and our client’s safety programs
  • Develop and assist with the execution of marketing plans to explore new business opportunities, while managing current clients, to ensure profitability, increase market share, growth, and expansion of the Vertex environmental group
  • Provide regular updates to management as it relates to project performance activities, schedules, and other business conditions/issues
  • Conduct regular site visits and review meetings

  • Field Execution of Environmental Projects
    • Trimble GPS Utilization
    • Soil Sampling Protocols – PID, PetroFlag, Quantabs
    • Lab Analysis – Chain of Custody
    • Water Sampling Protocols
    • New Mexico and Texas

LOCATION

  • This position will ideally be based out of Carlsbad, New Mexico; applicants from Midland, Houston, Dallas, and Austin will also be considered.
