We are currently seeking a Facilities Engineering Co-op Student to work within our Operations Team. This position reports to a Sr. Facilities Engineer and requires an organized and motivated individual who is ready to work in a challenging and fast paced environment. The work term will commence in May 2019 and last for an 8 (eight) month period. This position is based in Calgary.
The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and technical skills along with a passion for learning. This position is based in Calgary but may require trips to the field as well. This will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to learn about the Oil & Gas industry in Western Canada as well as develop their engineering skills.
This work term will provide a comprehensive introduction to facilities engineering. It will be both a project-based and project assistance work term where the successful candidate will collaborate with various Operations staff to complete a variety of engineering work such as engineering studies, cost analysis, as well as facilities and asset integrity projects related to the management of ARC’s facilities. The candidate will have broad exposure to oil and gas production facilities and operations, as well as project management controls.
The successful candidate’s main responsibilities may include the following:
Assisting Sr. Facilities Engineers with project management controls related to large Capital projects within the company
Minor projects related to Asset Integrity, facility maintenance, and process optimization
Assist with development of Facility Engineering standards, typical designs and best practices related to pipeline and facility installations
Assist Asset Integrity Technologists with on-going management of ARC facilities and pipelines in accordance with ARC Asset Management programs
The position is ideally suited for a student currently enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor of Science (Engineering) program. Our ideal candidate has exceptional computer skills and a strong desire to gain experience in the Petroleum Industry. The necessary software training will be provided for the successful candidate. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a desire to obtain Project Management experience are also beneficial.
Although strong training and one-on-one mentoring will be provided, the successful candidate must be able to work independently within a team environment.
