FRACTURING TECHNICAL SPECIALIST/TRAINEE – CALGARY (CAT)

In your role as a Fracturing Technical Specialist/Trainee you will monitor the treatments and provide support to fit customer needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Trican’s core value, “Safe equipment and operations” is the priority in all activities
  • Monitor hydraulic fracturing treatments via satellite in real-time
  • Collaborate with sales, clients and operations staff to ensure job procedure is clearly understood and accomplished in a safe and efficient manner
  • Write job procedures, cost estimates and programs
  • Design and monitor hydraulic fracturing treatments
  • Follow-up after jobs to review, assess and optimize the success of fracturing treatments
  • Complete and review chemical disclosures and post treatment reports
  • Assist in the implementation of new technologies
  • Convey technical issues through formal presentations to both internal and external clients
  • Track key performance indicators for customers
  • Develop skills utilizing hydraulic fracturing simulators
  • Conduct various data searches on both commercial and Trican’s proprietary software applications to acquire necessary data for treatment design
  • Assist operations with technical problem solving and data tracking
  • Other functions as assigned by Team Lead or Manager

Experience & Skills:

  • Completion of a technical degree or diploma, with preference given to Petroleum, Energy, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related disciplines
  • Preference for 2 years or more of oil and gas experience
  • A strong newly graduated candidate may be considered
  • Eligible for registration with APEGA or ASET preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees, management, and customers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office desktop applications and engineering specialty program
  • Skilled in problem-solving techniques
  • Experience working in the field is an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm with significant overtime as required by the position
  • Paid overtime monitoring 24-hour operations/shift work
  • Willingness to travel to bases or job sites occasionally
