Harvest Operations Corp. is a diverse energy company based out of Calgary offering exposure to conventional upstream oil and natural gas production and SAGD operations. We are focused on identifying opportunities to create and deliver value with an active development program and a technical approach taken to maximize our assets.
Harvest has an immediate opening for a Senior Drilling and Completion Engineer reporting to the Vice President, Operations. This may be a permanent full-time or contract position based out of the Calgary office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide overall leadership to the drilling, completion, well servicing and abandonment team, including performance management and mentoring direct reports;
• Proactively participate in monitoring, correcting and promoting the highest possible standards of ES&H implementation across all drilling & completions team operations;
• Provide coordination and support for effective and efficient input and oversight of a third-party provider for all new projects for the organization.
• In conjunction with asset teams and external resources, provide guidance and approvals to deliver thorough plans and accurate cost estimates for drilling, completion and workover projects to be executed by the organization.
• Lead the team responsible for the detailed and state-of-the-art design of well completion, workover, well servicing and abandonment programs to maximize production and economic resource recovery.
• Provide leadership for regulatory services functions including ARO, AER submissions for drilling, facilities and operations;
• Provide timely direction and oversight for the execution of safe, technically sound, and cost-effective operations in the field;
• Support multidisciplinary asset and development teams in the progression of new project and asset developments and for ongoing optimization and well servicing on existing wells;
• Evaluate commercial bids, complete technical scopes, and approve and manage material contracts related to the team activities;
• Manage, optimize and steward execution budgets in coordination with asset requirements and financial guidelines;
• Be a responsible member for all engineering related to D&C design and execution.
• Other duties as required to attain industry leading operations performance.
Qualifications:
• An engineering degree in a related field. APEGA registration eligible;
• 15+ years of progressive related experience in western Canadian oil and gas drilling and completions, with an emphasis on complex completions, including demonstrated leadership experience;
• 5+ years of thermal wells (SAGD) experience for well design, drilling & completion program and its operations in Canada
• Demonstrated experience in planning and execution of abandonment activities including reviewing programs and analyzing results for continuous improvement;
• Strong leadership abilities that result in motivating staff to bring opportunities and ideas forward and to continuously develop best practices within the team;
• Self-motivation and a sense of urgency;
• Good listening skills in order to determine needs by consultation with stakeholders;
• Strong verbal communication skills that accurately articulate expectations and requirements;
• Good written communication skills to ensure staff development programs and work plans are clearly articulated;
• Experience and proven success in managing the EH&S aspects of Drilling and Completion operations;
• Understanding and effective planning and management of key financial issues that impact drilling and completions and the overall business;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and other data base software with the ability to quickly learn new software applications utilized by the company.
