Horizon Drilling, a division of Western Energy Services Corp.
The Shop Hand position is mainly responsible for assisting with shop and yard maintenance, shipping and receiving equipment, operating material handling equipment, and general facility repairs. The successful candidate will be professional, safety-minded, self-motivated, and capable of operating machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks with forklifts, wheel loaders and overhead cranes
- Clean shop and yard areas
- Assist Shipper to organize MSR orders and load trucks as required
- Organize and track small equipment repairs as assigned
- Snow removal
- Assist Project Coordinators and Equipment Coordinators as required
- Other duties, as requested by management
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 1 – 5 years industry related experience
- Machinery and oilfield and/ or rig industry experience preferred
- Previous experience operating forklifts and loaders
- Computer knowledge and skills are an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work unsupervised occasionally
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Detailed Orientated
- Safety-minded attitude
