Facilities Engineer

Growth oriented i3 Energy Canada Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to fulfill the responsibilities of Facilities/Operations Engineer reporting to the Senior Facilities Engineer.

Position Description:

Facilities/Operations Engineer:

Looking for a highly motivated Facilities Engineer/Operations Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at i3 Energy in Calgary.

We’re actively seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to join our Facilities Team in our Calgary Office.

Reporting to the Senior Facilities Engineer,

Your primary responsibilities will be facility engineering and project management

·         the Facilities Engineer will support engineering and construction projects on conventional oil and gas project facilities focusing on:

–          technical requirements, quality control, scheduling, and budget.

–          you will be responsible for technical activities related to new facilities, existing facilities, operations, facilities optimization, and maintaining the producing company assets

 

Essential Functions:

-Oversee various projects and when required, actively participate in engineering design with EPCs.

-Work closely with EPC staff to ensure the design and technologies used best suits the applications.

-Define deliverables (Cost, Schedule, Quality and Safety) from the design and construction team and drive them through project completion.

-Enhance success by ensuring the completion of facility projects on time, on budget and safely while adhering to quality standards and corporate initiatives.

-Participate in the commissioning, start-up and turn-over of facility projects including pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR).

-Recommend changes to established project execution processes and procedures as part of ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.

-Work within the MOC (plant change) process, including project justification (safety or economic analysis as required), prioritization, project execution and cost/schedule control.

-Identify Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP risk reviews for new projects with EPCs.

-Promote innovation within Projects by working collaboratively with others to ensure the most appropriate technologies and designs are used for each application.

-Participate and promote Health, Safety and Environment policies from initial design phase through to construction, commissioning, and final turn over to operations.

-Participate in emergency response exercises and EOC event activities as requested.

-Promote a positive image of i3 Energy through your work with industry, regulatory and public partners.

Your secondary focus will be operations engineering.

–       You will assist the Operations teams:

o   by providing technical support in areas of troubleshooting, risk analysis, process de-bottlenecking and optimization

o   MOC scoping, preparation, evaluation and execution

o   Turnaround Planning, preparation, costing, execution.

 

Qualifications Include:

 

Skills and Knowledge:

-Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, oil and gas industry producer, operations, EPC engineering experience.

 

-Previous operating experience is considered an asset.

-Be aware of, and work according to applicable Guidelines, Directives and Regulations with regards to the Environment, Safety, AER, ABSA, and others.

-Proven track record in designing and implementing cost-effective and innovative facility projects

-Exceptional time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects at once, and adapt to changing priorities

-An independent self-starter with a strong ability to take the initiative.

 

Familiarity with and understanding of:

-Design and construction of conventional oil and gas production facilities within Western Canada.

-Piping systems and fluid handling and fluid distribution systems.

-Experience working with outside EPC companies will be required.

-Experience in a multi-disciplinary team including field operation superintendents, operators, facilities engineers, joint venture, production accounting and surface land will be key in order to foster a team driven work environment.
-Experience in economic evaluations will be considered an asset.
-Spreadsheets and software applications (ex. Excel, Word, Maximo).

 

Education and Experience:

-Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum).

-Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.

-Comfortable working in an operations environment and supporting large teams.

 

Work Environment:

-Based at our Calgary office (Penn West Tower).

-Occasional travel may be required.
