Senior Financial Analyst

Long Run Exploration Ltd. is a Calgary based intermediate exploration and production company focused on light oil and natural gas development in Western Canada.  We are currently looking to fill the following position: 

Senior Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Controller, we are currently looking to fill the following contract position (12 to 18-month contract position for maternity leave coverage).  This role will be responsible for full cycle financial and operations accounting: 

•         Preparation of monthly financial statements

•         Preparation of the capital, revenue, royalty, and opex accruals

•         Working with the field on monthly Opex forecast

•         Preparing monthly calculations for items such as: depletion, ARO, FIT, impairment, interest expense, and gains/losses on sale of assets

•         Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements

•         Preparing quarterly reporting package for the parent company

•         Researching and assessing the impact of new accounting standards, business developments and new government regulations on financial reporting and disclosure, including related technical accounting memos/position papers

•         Audit 10% requests average depending on timing then up to 30%

•         Liaising with and managing information requests from external auditors, investors and parent company

•         Preparing internal documents used for analyzing monthly results and operations for senior management such as monthly highlights, presentations, and variance analysis, and lease operating reports

•         Preparation of monthly GST Returns

•         Completing Statistics Canada Surveys, AER Financial Schedules, Financial Insurance Forms, preparation of annual ESTMA filing

•         Other duties as required

 

Qualifications: 

·         Fluent in Mandarin (reading, writing, listening and speaking)

·         Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA)

·         Experience in the oil and gas industry;

·         Audit Firm experience would be an asset

·         Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail;

·         Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment.

·         Tax knowledge would be an asset

·         Knowledge of accounting systems (Qbyte, Envision or other)
