The opportunity
Our Operations Reliability team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary to support the Regional Asset Reliability teams.

We are seeking a Reliability Specialist who has knowledge and experience in equipment reliability evaluation, mitigation, and process development. The engineer is also responsible for providing technical support for operations specialists and technicians to maximize reliability, efficiency, and safety. 

What you’ll do

  • Partner with the specialists and technicians’ staff to ensure our facilities operated safely and reliably
  • Liaison between field and engineering/planning teams in Calgary 
  • Identify reliability gaps and develop creative, innovative, and sound engineering solutions
  • Development and implementation of innovative maintenance & repair methodologies
  • Develop and utilize risk management tools and processes in conjunction with risk-based asset management strategies
  • Develop reliability tools and process to monitor the key equipment

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering 
  • Registered, or eligible to register with, APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
  • 6 years of progressive relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environment
  • Proven ability to drive short-term and long-term technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems
  • Experienced with engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issue and recommend improvements
  • Ability to recognize and adapt to changing business priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad engineering expertise
  • Troubleshooting skills, including familiarity with all aspects of facility operation
  • Failure investigation and root cause determination and interpretation of damage mechanisms
  • Familiarity with norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently, including at field locations
  • Previous maintenance process and system development experience

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract (record) for review
  • Stay away from home base overnight which will include living in and maintaining company camps or housing (~10% of the time)
