PetroChina Canada is looking for a Senior Completions Engineer to join our Duvernay Team.
Reporting to the Lead, Duvernay Drilling and Completions, the Senior Completions Engineer will work closely with the Drilling and Completions Lead and associated asset teams to support projects related to development and production of unconventional gas for PetroChina Canada.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and engineering of technical programs related to completions/fracing and workovers:
- Accountable for the design, development and execution programming and planning of horizontal tight reservoir well completions, focusing on multi-stage fracture stimulation, logistics to optimize safety and efficiency, well bore hydraulics, tubular/connections, instrumentation requirements, workover designs and selection, and wellhead designs
- Oversight and management of all field staff and contractors who will be executing the completions/frac programs.
- Identify and recommend new technology and opportunities for cost optimization without sacrificing program effectiveness
- Provide technical/engineering support for well intervention programs and cost estimates
- Lead the CWOP (Complete Well on Paper) review and develop risk analysis to mitigate risk for annual programs
- Develop technical specifications for procurement packages for completion materials and services. Review quotations, bid packages and provide recommendations for awarding work
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams within the Asset and extended teams to support project development plans and execution
- Management and interface with field operations staff regarding the proposed completion design and provide guidance and technical expertise to support well intervention work
Monitor and manage program/projects budget, timelines, compliance and scope:
- Monitor the execution of field projects to ensure compliance to company Policies and standards, Alberta OH&S, ERCB and Alberta Environment regulations
- Manage scope changes including documentation and approval as required, and discuss with the appropriate team members
- Coordinate daily morning completions meetings associated to assigned projects
- Review cost and operational data and develop end-of-project reports as required
- Review and manage quality and accuracy of Wellview completion data and reports
- Support SCM process as necessary including closeout activities
Review, assist and report on all completion/frac activities:
- Ensure all completions materials equipment and services are planned ahead and organized in advance of undertaking field work
- Review daily activity with Well Superintendent and for the coordination of daily morning completions meetings with team members
- Make periodic field trips to review well activities with onsite operations staff and service vendors
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Registered with APEGA
- 12+ years’ completions engineering experience with unconventional gas completions, workover and production operations
- Dedicated to managing Health, Safety and Environment
- Well versed in and adaptable to learning computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft suite, wellview, SAP, flow dynamics
- Ability to develop / administer various technical and cost reports
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
