POSITION SUMMARY The primary function of the Shop Foreperson is to provide direction, on-floor leadership, and continuous improvement of the production processes, procedures, and equipment. A Strike Shop Foreperson provides leadership and scheduling, and coordinates, supervises, and ensure the safety and productivity of a larger crew. Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness. POSITION DETAILS
- Candidates must be local to Bonnyville or be willing to relocate
- Regular shift will be Monday to Friday, 10 hour days
- Shift subject to change depending on project requirements
- Wage starting at $55/hr
- January start date
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Directly supervises all floor personnel and directs the flow of work through the shop
- Participate in scheduling and workplace planning
- Manage and maintain client relationships
- Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews
- Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate this to Project Manager
- Ensure quality and inspection throughout fabrication process
- Apply project procedures, shop policies, and collective agreement requirements
- Complete progress reports, weld tracking, and review fabrication costs with Project Manager and Controller
- Inform the Project Manager of any out-of-scope work
- Provide crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe and effective manner
- Coordinate manpower requirements as fabrication needs dictate
- Ensure all workers receive the proper training
QUALIFICATIONS Education
- Must be a Red Seal journeyperson pipefitter
- Valid CSTS, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, AWP, Standard First Aid, and LSE tickets are an asset
Experience
- 8 to 10 years of experience as a Red Seal journeyperson pipefitter
- 4 to 5 years of supervision experience in a fabrication shop
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Experience in ACORN
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
- Capable of setting and managing priorities to meet all deadlines
- Strong coordination skills and organization skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
