SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR – CALGARY (CAT)
The Systems Administrator will deliver and provide technical support of servers (hybrid), storage, hardware and software.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Trican’s core value, “Safe equipment and operations” is the priority in all activities
- Perform troubleshooting and involve outside support and/or other IT teams as required
- Document existing and new systems as required
- Coach service desk to expand their ability to troubleshoot user complaints
- Assist in disaster recovery & business continuity planning, implementation and testing
- Continue to develop server maintenance practices and standards
- Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware
- Recommend changes to improve systems infrastructure
- Server performance tuning
- Participate on IT projects to implement or decommission enterprise level services
- Provide support for tickets that are escalated from the service desk
- Follow change, problem, and incident management processes
- Schedule and implement server upgrades and patches
- Server event monitoring, respond/mitigate alerts
- Azure environment management and maintenance
- Microsoft M365 and SharePoint Administrator
- Microsoft Entra ID administration and troubleshooting
- Varonis monitoring and administration
- Escalation to third-party vendors as needed
- Escalation person for SOC events and mitigation
Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science
- Certifications in Microsoft Technologies, VMWare
- 3 years’ work experience as a system administrator in a medium to enterprise sized organization
- Hands-on knowledge of a variety of hardware and software technologies, including, but not limited to:
- Microsoft Technologies (Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2022, Exchange 2019, Azure, Hybrid environment, Microsoft toolset and RDS)
- Microsoft Entra ID
- VMWare
- Veeam
- Experience with Varonis is preferred
- Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and testing
- Experience in oil and gas is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees, vendors, management and customers
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Skilled in problem-solving techniques
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license or equivalent
