Job Title: Field Engineer or Field Technologist (depending on the qualified candidate)
Location: Grande Prairie, AB area
Employment Type: Full-time, Salary Position
Reporting to: Operations Manager, West Division
Position Overview:
The Field Engineer / Technologist works closely with area Operations Engineers and Facilities Engineers in Calgary, AB, and the Field Production team (Superintendents, Foremen, Lead Operators, and Operators). The role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a variety of projects within the Whitecap Unconventional asset team (Montney). The position is field based (Grande Prairie) and requires frequent time in the various field locations, as well as occasional time in Calgary, AB.
Key Job Accountabilities:
– Production & Operating Costs:
– Monitor well production, pipeline system pressures, and artificial lift to maximize production. Identify areas for optimization, perform economic analysis, and execute on opportunities.
– Manage optimization budget and targets.
– Identify workover and facility projects to optimize production and reduce OPEX.
– Perform pipeline model simulations using PipeSim.
– Maintain current and high-quality data in our field data capture system (fluid levels, pressures, and tests).
– Work with our Field Operators and Operations Engineers to identify and execute on initiatives to reduce operating costs.
– Liaise with 3rd party stakeholders as required (partners, gas processors, and vendors).
· Well Servicing:
– Review well failures and use data analytics tools to improve artificial lift run life and identify design change opportunities.
– Prepare workover programs and artificial lift evaluations.
– Work with our Operations Engineers to coordinate well servicing activities.
– Record workover follow-up data (fluid levels, chemical programs, and optimization).
· Capital Projects / New Drills
– Assist our Operations Engineers, as required, to plan and execute capital programs and pad operations.
– Procure used/surplus equipment, as required.
– Work with our Facilities team to handle field-level MOC’s.
Primary Experience and Skills:
· BSc Eng. preferred with 8 – 15 years of experience.
· APEGA or ASET accreditation is required.
· Familiarity with these software applications is an asset: Geoscout, PipeSim, WinGLUE, SROD
· Self-starter with a solid production and completions background.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities in an active environment.
· Pays attention to details and has strong communication skills (verbal and written).
· A high level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
· Must be able to work in Canada
