Journeyperson Electrician

POSITION SUMMARY Journeyperson Electricians possess the full range of knowledge required to install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, lighting, power sources and communications.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
  • Maintain, repair, install, and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors
  • Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must possess a valid Journeyperson certificate issued by the appropriate provincial or federal authority

Experience

  • Industrial/energy industry experience required

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors

Apprentice Electrician

Experience

  • Rigid and EMT conduit experience is an asset

Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician

POSITION SUMMARY Journeyperson Instrumentation Technicians are integral support members of the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Team. The E&I team works on local projects as well as site projects located in Western Canada.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   Note: This posting will be used to collect applications to fill current openings as well as anticipated future openings. Future openings are anticipated but not guaranteed.    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, composition.
  • Test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gages, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments.
  • Calibrate, repair, maintain and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment.
  • Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits and systems.
  • Assist in estimating as required.

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must possess a valid Journeyperson certificate issued by the appropriate provincial or federal authority
  • Must be willing to be indentured as an Apprentice Electrician
  • Must have successfully completed the Swagelok Installation training course

Experience

  • Tubing experience and knowledge is required
  • Strong commissioning skills and experience would be an asset
  • Extensive experience in the construction, repair, and alteration of instrument tubing in accordance with ABSA standards

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Must be willing to travel to work sites
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Strike is growing in Saskatchewan! We are looking for a superintendent experienced in mining, energy, and/or renewable construction projects to join our Saskatoon team.   What will you do?

  • Help us build a competitive and sustainable team by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure we have the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Manage our workforce, subcontractors, and all other resources to complete our projects
  • Actively participate in construction planning, bidding, and scheduling
  • Lead a team of site supervisors and tradespeople to drive constructability

Demonstrate leadership for safety awareness, safe work practices, hazard identification and control principles Provide clear objectives and performance expectations to achieve safety and production targets Develop and promote a positive work environment with crews across shifts

  • Ensure the workforce has the required capabilities and certifications
  • Ensure field installation work packages are developed and clear
  • Ensure equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with our standards and practices
  • Direct and coordinate multiple projects and teams
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve conflicts and issues, and communicate changes to stakeholders and customers

What will you bring?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a supervisor in mining, energy, or related sectors
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in construction
  • Experience leading a team of 20 or more people
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and blueprint reading
  • Sound knowledge of construction execution and best practices
  • Superior leadership skills
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of facilitating meetings
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Meticulous record-keeping skills
  • Capable of working independently with minimal direction
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Ability to travel and work on project sites
