Welders Helper

POSITION SUMMARY Welders Helpers assist skilled trades people in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc cutting activities and perform labour activities at our various construction and project sites.    Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.     CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Interpret Acorn drawings
  • Help fit pipe spools
  • Lift, move, and hold or clamp workpieces to tables, into jigs, or into position as directed manually or by using hoists, pry bars, wrenches, hammers, and wedges.
  • Cleans workpieces to remove impurities, such as slag, rust, and grease using wire brushes, portable grinders, hand scrapers, or chemical solutions.
  • Connects hoses from hand torches to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders or connects cables from power sources to electrode holders and workpieces or fixtures.
  • Starts engines on electric generators
  • Removes tags or marks and moves finished work.
  • May attach grappling equipment to objects for moving by crane

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • 1st or 2nd year registered Apprentice Welder preferred

Experience

  • Previous facility construction & maintenance experience an asset

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES  

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to interpret Acorn drawings
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors

Field Operator – Drumheller, AB

Roska DBO Inc. is currently looking for a Field Operator for our client based out of the Drumheller, AB area.   Candidates must reside or have accommodations in the Drumheller or surrounding area as there is no camp or subsistence provided. 

Requirements include:

  • 5+ year’s experience as an oil and gas field operator
  • Preference given to those with the following experience:
    • deep and shallow gas operations 
    • pumpjacks
    • screw and recip compression
    • dehy
    • refridge 
  • Must be a team player with strong communication skills
  • Self –motivated, open-minded and results oriented
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and handle issues as they arise
  • Must have required safety tickets (First Aid, H2S, etc.)
  • Capable of passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must have full class 5 driver license.

Field Operator – Heavy Oil – Slave Lake, Alberta

Roska DBO is looking for a Field Operator to join their team in the Slave Lake, Alberta area. The schedule is 8/6, 10 hour days. Camp or subsistence is available for the right candidate. 

Additional requirements include:

  • Must have valid safety tickets (H2S Alive, Standard First Aid)
  • Experience with heavy oil field operations; PCP's, dehy, compression, is an asset
  • Strong aptitude for detail, disciplined work ethic and the ability to take initiative as well as to accept direction
  • Capable of working in both a team and independently
  • Operator with truck and tools preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test

General Foreperson

POSITION SUMMARY The General Foreperson provides leadership and is responsible for assisting with scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating and supervising crews, cost control, and ensuring the safety, proper apprentice training and productivity of crews at the workface who install/assemble components of industrial products and structures.    As a key participant in the relationship with the contractor, other contractors, company and client, the general foreperson has a further role as a coordinating manager and client interface.   POSITION DETAILS

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews in safety/incident investigations and review
  • Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate this to the appropriate people
  • Ensure quality and inspection of installation
  • Apply project procedures, work site policies and collective agreement requirements
  • Complete quality reports and required statistics
  • Inform the Superintendent of any out of scope work
  • Provide crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe effective manner
  • Ensure all workers receive the proper training and review and approve worker time cards
  • Reporting on crew production, work progress and change
  • Completing quality control reports when required
  • Recommending or providing feedback on personnel evaluations such as hiring, promotions and corrective action
  • Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and Code) and safety policies and procedures·
  • Supporting job training for apprentices and facilitating mentoring of apprentices by journeymen
  • Participates in and monitors “safety meetings”
  • Identifying, verifying and reporting any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate persons           

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Journeyman trade certification in a relevant trade
  • 5 to 7 years of experience as a qualified and competent trades person with Civil, pipeline, and facility experience
  • 3 years of experience as a qualified and competent foreman

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (must be able to a computer and other technology applicable to the job)
  • Project construction scope and objectives
  • Capable of setting and managing priorities to meet all deadlines
  • Strong coordination skills and organization skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Labourer

POSITION SUMMARY Strike’s Labourers assist skilled trade persons and perform labour activities at our various construction and project sites.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety”, and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect and fairness.   Note: This posting will be used to collect applications to fill current openings as well as anticipated future openings. Future openings are anticipated but not guaranteed.   PROJECT/POSITION DETAILS

  • Candidates local to the Whitecourt area preferred

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist with installation, testing and rigging of spools and materials
  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices
  • Clean construction work areas and fuel equipment where needed.
  • Work with equipment operators and civil crew to complete grade and excavation work
  • Assist pipefitters and civil groups with their work
  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in safely moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed
  • Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them
  • Correct unsafe acts and bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the immediate supervisor
  • Return tools (clean) back to the proper area after the job is complete or at the end of the shift
  • Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance Level 2, fall protection, manlift training and confined space considered an asset
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Previous pipeline or facility specific construction experience is an asset
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Capable of working with small tools
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Fluent in speaking and reading English
  • Must be able to follow directions
