Local Sour Gas Plant Operator – Grande Prairie, Alberta

Our client, a major oil and gas company, is looking for a Sour Gas Plant Operator to assist at their facility north of Grande Prairie. This is a full-time position running on a 7/7 rotation with 12 hour days and nights. A 4th or 3rd class Power Engineering ticket is required for the role. The successful candidate must also live locally to the area, as no camp or accommodations will be provided.

We are looking for the following experience and education:

  • Minimum of 5 year's experience working at a sour gas facility with amine and refridge 
  • Valid power engineering certification (4th class or higher)
  • Valid First Aid & H2S Alive
  • Comfortable working with H2S gas and under mask
  • Clean driving abstract required
  • Capable of passing pre-employment drug & alcohol test
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment

Operator, Plant

PCC has invested billions of dollars in an asset-rich portfolio of upstream, midstream and downstream operations. In Alberta, this includes our MacKay River and Dover oilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline. In British Columbia, we hold joint venture interests in the Groundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.

 

PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Plant Operator to join the Duvernay Team. 

 

Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Coordinators, the Plant Operator will respond to daily operations and maintenance activities while meeting production targets. The Operator will support in optimizing plant efficiency, performance and troubleshooting.

 

This role is field based, and includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities and requirements:

  • Potential for intermittent outdoor work as well as field-office based work that is primarily sedentary and cognitive in nature
  • Moderate physical activity required at times, including climbing stairs and ladders and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Activate and respond to the emergency response plan when required
  • Be on call during nights while on regularly scheduled shifts
  • Share dedicated plant nightshift rotation with the Operations group (Plant Operator)
  • Work a rotation schedule of 15 days on / 13 days off

Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute day to day operational activities
  • Review Cygnet to check wells, identify problems and opportunities for improvement and optimization
  • Work toward targets in the areas of safety, cost control, revenue generation, and organizational effectiveness by maintaining process targets
  • Share knowledge and provide expertise to assigned operating area
  • Act as focal point for troubleshooting, optimization and meeting operations targets to control key costs and improved reliability
  • Complete facility and production logs
  • Conduct work in compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures
  • Ensure work orders are entered into SAP
  • Manage pigging and batching programs
  • Manage PSV recertification and car seal program for the area and coordinate with Integrity group
  • Maintain all HSSE and technical competency requirements
  • Promote consistency within operating areas with regards to operating practices and work quality
  • Complete required documentation and inspections
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization
  • Maintain cost tracking and participate in accruals
  • Stamp, sign and code vendor work tickets, ensure rates and hours comply with work completed for production accounting purposes
  • Assist Maintenance team as needed

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience with a background in operations
  • Fired Process Heater Operator Certificate or 4th Class Power Engineer certification (Plant Operator) required
  • 3rd Class Power Engineer certification will be considered an asset
  • Exposure to unconventional gas operations and/or project experience considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and work force
  • Ability to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment

Site HSE Lead

POSITION SUMMARY

The Site HSE Lead works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide Management and Front-line Supervision client groups with guidance and support for the continual implementation and monitoring of the Strike Health, Safety and Environment Management System and related standards. This position requires a strong collaborative working style within the respective business units, with a focus on activities at the work face.

This Position will be supporting our Electrical team.   POSITION/PROJECT DETAILS

  • 14 on/7 off rotation

  • Start Date July 9, 2026.
  • Moose Jaw, SK area of work
  • Long term projects through the Saskatchewan Region through to 2028

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist operations management and employees with HSEMS and Safe Work Manuals
  • Develop and test emergency response plans (ERP) and Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSP)
  • Work with manager and superintendent on daily basis to coordinate activities such as SSSPs, pre-job HIACs, site visits/inspections, incident reports, and other daily HSE matters
  • Organize, prepare, and contribute to regular safety meetings
  • Assist in the development of, and then communicate and train on safe job procedures, safe work practices, and codes of practice
  • Assist with worker injury resolution, modified work programs, and WCB claims management
  • Administer, review, analyze/trend, and follow up on safety observation cards (SOC) on a regular basis
  • Monitor near misses and assist operational leaders to address, corresponding with severity
  • Assist and advise on hazard identification, assessment, and control (HIAC)
  • Support the implementation and execution of Strike’s Alcohol & Drug policy and program. This typically involves, but is not limited to, coordinating testing and transportation of worker(s) to testing facilities.
  • Assist in coordination of online training delivered through Strike eSchool
  • Maintain material safety data sheets (MSDS) inventory in hardcopy and electronic format
  • Conduct safety activities, worksite inspections and safety observations. Assist with coaching where necessary
  • Participate in contractor management health and safety assessments
  • Assist in general site safety management, inspect and provide safety assistance for duration of project/field job
  • Monitor and inventory PPE and safety supplies, and assist in procurement
  • Coordinate and oversee safety equipment and PPE inspection and maintenance program, including items such as atmospheric monitors, harnesses, fire extinguishers, etc
  • Assist in the preparation of pre-job meetings and attend when required
  • Lead or assist in incident investigations
  • Verify completion and training records of NSC drivers are meeting Strike requirements and activities
  • Assist with trending statistics, reporting and tracking
  • Assume a leadership role in ensuring the timeliness, thoroughness, and accuracy of data and workflow process within the incident management system
  • Participate in contractor management assessments (pre-qualification, field evaluation, post-job assessment)
  • Advise management teams on training requirements and provide ongoing training status
  • Maintain on-site presence and offer staff support, coaching, in adhering to Strike’s HSEMS
  • Conduct on-site orientation of new employees, ISPs, and subcontractors. In certain projects/jobs assist with the delivery and confirm site specific orientations are being completed
  • Train staff on proper use of safety equipment and accompanying documentation
  • Train staff on HIAC process and the use of HIAC tools (forms, relevant documentation)
  • Ensure project Safety documentation file records are organized and uploaded into digital database as requested/required

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Completion of an occupational health and safety program from a recognized post-secondary institution is considered an asset
  • NCSO designation is mandatory

Experience

  • Five years’ experience in progressive safety management in the oil & gas or electrical construction industry
  • Electrical project safety lead roles is an asset
  • Electrical/Substation Experience is an asset

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficient in OHS legislation in multiple jurisdictions
  • Experienced and competent computer skills is essential, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.

Pipeline Field Operator – Sturgeon County, Alberta

Our client, a major oil and gas transportation company, is currently seeking a Pipeline Operator to join their busy Operations team in the Sturgeon County, Alberta area for Summer coverage.  The Pipeline operator will operate pipeline assets including, but not limited to, valve manifolds, pig launchers and receivers, compressor stations, dehydration units, amine process plants, and control and pump stations.  Candidates need to reside within 60kms of Sturgeon County. This position is expected to last 4 months.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•    Provide safe and efficient operations and maintaining Pump stations, LACT's, and other field block valves
•    Complete proactive field inspections 
•    Identify abnormal operating conditions
•    Utilize computer maintenance program and work orders
•    Perform pipeline pigging 3" to 42"
•    Product sampling
•    Housekeeping of sites
•    Perform safe work permits
•    Some travel may be required

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Production Field/Pipeline Operator
  • Previous related oil, industrial or pipeline experience required
  • Must have valid safety tickets (H2S, First Aid)
  • A disciplined work ethic and ability to take initiative
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Capable of working in both a team and individual environment
  • Valid class 5 license (NO GDL)
  • Capable of passing pre-hire Drug and Alcohol screening.
