Apprentice Heavy Duty/Automotive Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY Apprentice Heavy Duty/Automotive Mechanics are responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of branded power system products and fleet vehicles. They will also assist with mechanical repair and maintenance of machinery and compressors in the shop and the field.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   PROJECT/POSITION DETAILS

  • Candidate local to the Edson area preferred
  • Approximately 80% shop work, 20% field work

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Using good financial judgement when procuring parts and materials.
  • Accountable for the repairs, service, inventory management of parts, oils & other day-to-day consumables
  • Prioritizing field/shop repairs with respect to logistics of the utilized equipment with attention to deliverables
  • Maintaining good relationships with vendors
  • Aligning the maintenance and upkeep of fleet vehicles/equipment with attention being paid to federal commercial vehicle inspections and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must be a registered Apprentice with the appropriate provincial or federal authority in either a heavy duty or automotive program

Experience SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors

Area Manager

POSITION SUMMARY The manager oversees field operations and promotes Strike business in the Bonnyville area. The manager ensures all aspects of the business unit operations are safely carried out in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the company.  Managers oversee the operational, administrative and support functions in their business unit and provide overall market insight and operational excellence into the development and execution of annual and strategic business plans.  Managers also cooperate with other business unit and corporate service managers to provide resources and support to other business units or projects.     Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety”, and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect and fairness.   CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Responsible for leading, promoting and maintaining a safe work environment, and monitoring the workplace to ensure a high standard of compliance to all occupational health and safety regulations and procedures
  • Lead the compliance with established policies, procedures and standards for safety, quality control, finance, operations, equipment maintenance, and business development
  • Manage and maintain field assets efficiently

  • Monitor and review project activities and ensure completion within scheduled time and budget. Ensure proper pre-job, on-the-job and post-job planning and oversight is completed.
  • Manage business activities focusing on financial and strategic growth of organization.
  • Monitor QA and QC measures and other KPI’s for projects and the business unit as a whole.
  • Build strong relationship with the customers in order to maintain revenue growth. Prepare and submit annual capital and operating budgets for designated area
  • Lead business development planning and execution for the business unit. Leverage existing contacts for project opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships and ensure all elements of client projects are addressed including costing, bid preparation, contract negotiations, change management, resource allocation and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure project risks are identified and controlled including supply chain and supplier risk sharing though proper procurement and subcontracting strategies
  • Maintain a personal network of business contacts & connections to more comprehensively manage the business unit and develop business and project opportunities
  • Monitor & identify trends in the local & regional economies, and provide input into the development to annual, strategic and sales plans
  • Develop an organizational culture that leads to ongoing excellence and effective growth of the business while maintaining the highest integrity

   QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Related Diploma or Bachelors degree 

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of Industry experience with 5 years supervisory and or management experience
  • Experience required in the following areas: modular construction, industrial fabrication & maintenance, pipeline construction

  • Proven leader
  • A well-developed network of industry contacts in area
  • Proven project management skills, including preparing project budgets and achieving required margins
  • Basic financial management skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, standards and procedures

3rd/4th Year Apprentice Electrician

Journeyperson Electrician

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
  • Maintain, repair, install, and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors
  • Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.

Field Operator – Fox Creek, Alberta

A major oil and gas company is looking for Field Operators to join operations to join a lease in the Kaybob area of Alberta. Reporting to the Kaybob Central Operations Foreman, the successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining a sweet natural gas/oil well site spill remediation system and associated hillside containment and piping gathering infrastructure.

This position runs on a 7/7 rotating schedule (12-hour days and nights). 

Job Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain a sweet natural gas/oil well site spill remediation system
  • Monitor and maintain hillside containment culvert recovery piping systems
  • Perform gathering system integrity checks and heat trace monitoring
  • Manage tank inventory and fluid levels
  • Operate and monitor generator systems
  • Oversee water filtration systems and pump-out operations
  • Complete accurate daily operational reporting
  • Maintain wildlife awareness and adhere to site safety protocols
  • Safely ascend and descend stairs on a significant hillside terrain

Skills Requirements:

  • Previous oil and gas field operating experience preferred
  • Experience with surface equipment and gathering systems
  • Strong understanding of piping systems and process flow
  • Ability to follow procedures and work within established safety standards
  • Physically capable of working on uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions
  • Must be a self-starter able to work independently
  • Valid safety tickets including First Aid, H2S Alive, Confined Space Awareness, Wildlife Awareness, and Fall Protection
  • Capable of passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol test
