Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician

POSITION SUMMARY Journeyperson Instrumentation Technicians are integral support members of the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Team.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   Note: This posting will be used to collect applications to fill current openings as well as anticipated future openings. Future openings are anticipated but not guaranteed.   PROJECT/POSITION DETAILS

  • Must be local to the Grande Prairie area

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, or composition
  • Test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gages, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments
  • Calibrate, repair, maintain and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment
  • Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems
  • Assist in estimating as required

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must possess a valid Journeyperson certificate issued by the appropriate provincial or federal authority
  • Must be willing to be indentured as an Apprentice Electrician
  • Must have successfully completed the Swagelok Installation training course

Experience

  • Tubing experience and knowledge is required
  • Strong commissioning skills and experience would be an asset
  • Extensive experience in the construction, repair, and alteration of instrument tubing in accordance with ABSA standards

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors

Instrument Tuber

  • A successful candidate for this position will be local to Calgary or surrounding areas

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Extensive experience in the construction, repair, and alteration of instrument tubing in accordance with ABSA standards
  • Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits and systems.
  • Read and interpret P&ID’s and Isometrics.
  • A demonstrated ability to work safe. 
  • Work with a variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, composition.
  • Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gages, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments.
  • Calibrate, repair, maintain and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments on new or existing equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must have successfully completed the Swagelok Installation training course

Experience

  • Tubing experience and knowledge is required
  • Previous experience working in the industrial/energy industry an asset

Senior Project Manager

Reporting to Director, Engineering & Construction, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the development, management, and implementation of PetroChina Canada’s (PCC) capital projects. This position is further responsible to plan, organize, oversee, monitor, and document all aspects of the whole capital project, making sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and on cost, including management or coordination of planning and budgeting, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, quality, schedule, and cost and payment, etc. 

Accountabilities:

  • Plan and budget for select capital projects as per the development requirements or stakeholders or annual work plan.
  • Prepare the contracting strategies cooperating with Supply Chain Management (SCM) and receive approval from the PCC Tender Committee (TC).
  • Organize, cooperate and complete the bidding procedure in accordance with company procedures (e.g., RPF document package preparation, bid evaluation organization, clarification, supporting negotiation).
  • Collaborate with the project’s team and internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including interface management with internal and external service providers.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deliverables simultaneously, focusing on completing them within the parameters of established key performance metrics (KPls), contractual agreements, permits, etc.
  • Develop and/or coordinate investment valuations, cost estimates, decision summaries, risk analyses and conceptual plans, and preliminary and detailed design work
  • Oversee all project governance activities including technical execution, cost performance, scheduling and reporting in accordance with PCC’s project gate standard and project management procedures
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering and other shareholders to develop and execute project scope, budget, execution plan, schedule, resource requirements, permit applications, commissioning plan, pre-start safety review, documentation, drawing modifications, close-out of punch list items
  • Create project execution plans to encompass schedules, budgets, resource requirements, permits and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate the work of external consultants and service providers
  • Work collaboratively with internal project services and business partners and Supply Chain Management to deliver solutions meeting project business objectives
  • Coordinate the creation, refinement and execution of project deliverables such as, execution plans, classified cost estimates, schedules, risk management plans, inspection plans, etc.
  • Prepare and propose mitigation measures to resolve project risks
  • Develop and maintain project plans and project documentation and related data bases
  • Manage change to project scope, budget, resources and schedule through effective documentation and communication. Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Organization, supervision and management for Design Basic Memorandum (DBM) and detailed engineering and procurement of equipment and materials and fabrication and construction and commissioning and handover.
  • Development and alignment of the technical designs, specifications and work packages to meet the project business objectives and execution strategies.
  • Coordinate and participate in design reviews and HAZOPs.
  • Development of technical studies where specifically identified as a need.
  • Lead the development of technical specifications & standards, as required.
  • Participate in audit activities and prepare any necessary or adhoc reports
  • Governing documents and procedure related with project management update.
  • Prepare materials for Director, Engineering & Construction on project matters (e.g., progress, schedule, cost forecast, payment status,)
  • Monitor and manage key policy developments that impact projects

Qualifications:

  • Proactive self-starter: Desire to succeed in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Proven ability to take initiative, organize, manage, and prioritize a multiple projects simultaneously
  • Undergraduate engineering degree, preferably Mechanical or Process discipline
  • APEGA certification
  • 10+ years’ project management experience including previous experience with the design/construction of oil and gas facilities (Gas/shale gas/SAGD or oilsands preferred)
  • Working knowledge of environment and regulatory permit compliance and restrictions
  • Demonstrated success in managing all aspects of a project (e.g., front-end engineering through construction and commissioning)
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable codes, standards (CSA, ABC), and relevant local trade practices and processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and work force
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team with a positive attitude
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Excavator Operator

POSITION SUMMARY Under the guidance and direction of the site foreman or direct supervisor, the Excavator Operator is responsible for operating heaving equipment in an efficient, safe and appropriate manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life while supporting construction activities.   Employees of our JEDCO division are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect and fairness.   Note: This posting will be used to collect applications to fill current openings as well as anticipated future openings. Future openings are anticipated but not guaranteed.   POSITION LOCATON/ DETAILS

  • Various locations in Alberta including Whitecourt, Fox Creek, and various locations in central and southern Alberta
  • Shifts are typically 24 & 4 but may vary

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Safe evacuation of operating pipelines
  • Ability to work off digging mats when required
  • Inspect equipment to ensure fluid levels, cutting edges and tracks are in good working order.  Make supervisor aware of any equipment deficiencies
  • Attends and participates in various meetings such as monthly safety meetings, pre-job and tailgate meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Integrity dig experience
  • Experience operating 200 series to 470 series excavator size
  • 5 years’ experience or more preferred
  • H2S Alive, CSTS or PCST, Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance ABCGA Level II.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Capable of working well on a team or individually
  • Capable of following directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
  • Detail oriented with a mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather
  • Must be capable of getting to the designated job site
