Apprentice Pipefitter

POSITION SUMMARY Our Apprentice Pipefitters possess the full range of knowledge required to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for oil, steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial production and processing systems.    Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect and fairness.   Note: This posting will be used to collect applications to fill current openings as well as anticipated future openings. Future openings are anticipated but not guaranteed.   PROJECT/POSITION DETAILS

  • Candidates local to the Whitecourt area are preferred

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Read and interpret red-line construction drawings and blueprints (Isometrics, P&ID’s, etc.)
  • Assist journeyperson pipefitters with the installation of equipment, pipe and structural steel onsite 
  • Assemble piping and valves in module and compressor package
  • Prepare pipe and fittings for tacking, hoisting, and rigging
  • Hydrotest, assemble and install pipe spools in the fabrication facility
  • Measure, cut, and thread pipe to required shape
  • Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered with the appropriate apprenticeship board as an apprentice pipefitter
  • Previous experience working as an apprentice in the oilfield industry 
  • Previous construction experience
  • H2S Alive, WHIMIS, CSTS, and Standard First Aid
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Capable of working with small tools
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Fluent in speaking and reading English
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Previous experience and ticket operating bobcats, skid steer, or zoom boom considered an asset
  • Fall protection, gas monitor training, confined space, AWP trading tickets considered an asset

Project Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY – PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT The Construction Superintendent will manage and control assigned projects, including overseeing field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, and trade contractor and supplier coordination and work in conjunction with the Project Manager leading the project team.  They provide technical management and project leadership on construction projects at the field level. Responsibilities include; directing the day-to-day activities onsite; planning crew activities in the short and long turn; resolving field construction issues; field level client relations; maintaining Strike’s high standard of safety and quality; managing small-to medium-sized projects or directing one portion of a major project and overseeing proper protocols in the field.   POSITION LOCATION/ DETAILS

  • Projects located in various locations across Alberta
  • LOA provided

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Reporting to the Project Manager provide oversight, planning and supervision for all disciplines of the project
  • Manage the crews, sub-contractors and all other resources in order to complete the job
  • Build a competitively superior organization by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure that people with the right skills and motivations are in the right place, at the right time to meet business needs
  • Conduct daily site safety toolbox meetings
  • Actively participate in the construction planning and scheduling
  • Maintain regular contact with client representatives on contract issues, schedule, delivery, and technical issues
  • Manage materials, tools and equipment required for the project
  • Lead the overall implementation to insure that the project is constructed in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Work closely with HR to recruit, hire and change manpower
  • If required, manage project budget, and project resource allocation
  • Ensure all field personnel complete required safety training and hold appropriate tickets
  • Ensure all field personnel comply with project procedures, safety requirements, and work and equipment maintenance procedures
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are operated and maintained in accordance with approved company standards and practices
  • Document all violations and incidents

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 6-10 years of experience in a superintendent role
  • Must have Brownfield Plant/Compressor Station Experience with knowledge of civil, below ground, & above ground piping

Project/Cost Controller

POSITION SUMMARY Project/Cost Controllers are responsible for the overall delivery of project controls including planning and scheduling, estimating, cost management, trend and change management, progress measurement and evaluation, reporting, and project accounting. The Project/Cost Controller will provide technical and management support to the field construction operations team for a progress monitoring tool.

  • Candidates local to Edson preferred

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare complex reports in Excel for internal and external distribution
  • Provide technical support for various in-house progress tracking and scheduling applications
  • Provide support of the creation and maintenance of the project schedule and provides ongoing updates to project stakeholders
  • Maintain and evaluate project progress including earned value management on a regular basis
  • Implement the cost management process including assisting with budget and chart of account development
  • Review and validate production quantity and invoices
  • Assist with change management functions with creation of proposals and field
  • Continuously improve project administrative processes and procedures to enhance efficiencies for the projects. Monitor procedures and practices, thinking creatively and strategically to create improvements.
  • Other duties, as required

QUALIFICATIONS Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in Project/Cost Controls
  • Experience with engineering and construction-based cost and scheduling systems (Productivity, performance measurement, progress tracking, change management, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities are required; organizational skills and attention to detail are required
  • Knowledge of MS Office required; advanced level knowledge of MS Excel required
  • Capable of responding to project stakeholder requests in typical situations and understands client needs and works to meet those needs by offering assistance and advice on standard practical issues

Office Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY An Office Administrator provides administrative support in the Bonnyville office and is approachable, organized, and customer service oriented. The Administrator maintains an appropriate level of confidentiality in all interactions.     POSITION DETAIL

  • This position will be based in Bonnyville.
  • This is a full-time, in-person position.
  • Able to start immediately.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • General Administration/Communication/Reception: Represent Strike in person, on the phone, and through electronic communications. Communicate current information with clients and staff. Prepare and/or proofread written communications. Manage, monitor, and maintain area office records. Dispose or store according to company standards. Maintain a professional and organized administrative office. 
  • Payroll: Track and confirm worker hours and record accurate data for payroll processing.
  • Accounts Receivable/Payable: Prepare, distribute, and track invoices for billing, and confirm, make necessary corrections, and file incoming invoices for payment.
  • Purchasing: Enter and file purchase orders and track against incoming invoices.
  • Reporting: Enter, post, and run reports such as transactions, project data, and requested audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Office administration or accounting diploma (e.g. administration, accounting, commerce) is preferred.
  • Previous experience is encouraged, but not necessary. We can train the right candidate. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel are preferred.
  • Candidates preferred will exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, strong communication and customer service, data management, team-player, and flexible/open to change.

On-Site Machinist

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Onsite Machinist to join our team. As an
Onsite Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating portable equipment to
perform a variety of machining tasks for shutdowns or emergency repair work. This includes
tasks such as flange facing, pipe cutting and prepping, portable milling, line boring, journal
turning, and more. If you are a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background in

Key Responsibilities
– Set up and operate portable and onsite machining equipment at various plant and
industrial sites
– Modify parts and find innovative solutions to complex onsite machining problems
– Perform routine maintenance on portable equipment to ensure its optimal performance
– Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precise measuring instruments
– Interpret engineering drawings and schematics to determine specifications and
dimensions of parts
– Follow safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
– A journeyman machinist or a registered apprentice at either 2nd or 3rd year
– 2+ years of previous experience in onsite machining, manual machining, or related fields
– Competent operating machine tools and equipment used in machining operations
– Strong attention to detail and the ability to think critically to problem-solve effectively
– Proficiency in working with measuring instruments to calculate dimensions and
tolerances
– Ability to stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 100lbs for extended periods of time
– Previous Forklift and Overhead Crane experience
– Training in supplemental safety courses such as CSTS2020, CSO, H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall
Arrest, Confined Space, WHMIS etc. is considered an asset.
