PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Human Resources Advisor to join the Human Resources Team in Calgary.
Reporting to the Director, HR & Communications, the HR Advisor is one of the primary points of contact for employees and leaders. The HR Advisor works closely within the HR team to influence, develop, and deliver PetroChina Canada’s (PCC) people priorities, programs and practices to enable business performance and growth. A primary focus of this role is to build and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to successfully deliver full cycle solutions to meet recruitment needs. This position is also responsible for managing HR matters through to completion (including administration) and employee relations.
The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Business Partnering:
- Work with leaders to identify and respond to the human resource requirements necessary to translate strategies and plans into the desired operational outcome
- Represent the needs, issues, and future requirements of clients within HR as part the development of an overall HR strategy and supporting projects, programs and practices
- Act as the one of the first points of contact for clients in the delivery of various HR programs (including workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, total rewards and employee relations)
- Provide day to day HR guidance and coaching to management and staff including, but not limited to, resolving employee relations issues, performance management, resolving conflicts, and disability management
- Provide active coaching within the leadership team on talent acquisition, talent management, talent development, as well as providing support and advice on specific operational plans, priorities and objectives having human capital implications
- Identify and recognize business needs, with the ability to anticipate the impact of trends or issues and recommend and implement solutions that support business performance
- Act as a key resource to support the overall management of human resources by being available to meet with employees, listen to concerns, research issues, review company policies and procedures, conduct workplace investigations and facilitate resolution
Talent Acquisition:
- Partner with client groups to develop recruitment strategies for vacancies that are reflective of business needs and strategy
- Support the business in the development of business cases and assist with drafting position descriptions
- Provide coaching, consultation and ongoing communication to hiring managers or relevant stakeholders at all stages in the recruitment process
- Source candidates using a variety of active and passive strategies
- Evaluate resumes, shortlist and perform phone screenings to deliver qualified candidates to the hiring manager and facilitate interviews with hiring managers
- Draft offer letters and complete onboarding and orientation for new employees
- Accountable for all aspects of the Student Program Initiative
- Provide support and facilitate the Contingent Worker Program (CWP) including working with 3rd party vendors and Supply Chain Management department regarding contracts and renewals
- Support and facilitate expatriate recruitment and onboarding and secondee process with JV Partners
Employee Life Cycle Management and Administration:
- Draft letters and handle through to completion items relating to changes during the employee life cycle (i.e. promotions, transfers, leaves etc.)
- Facilitate the off-boarding process, including preparation of termination documents, conducting terminations and organizing outplacement services
- Be accountable for Human Resources data integrity and maintenance regarding employee electronic and paper files, including periodic audits
- Prepare confidential correspondence as required
HR Policies, Procedures and Programs:
- Support the design and delivery of the HR programs, practices and processes necessary to support of the HR strategic plan and overall company success
- Ensure the proper execution of all organizational people practices, procedures and policies, advise on and interpret policies and recommend policy improvements, provide technical HR guidance where needed and identify opportunities to improve communication and training accordingly
- Ensure HR Governing Documents (policies, standards, practices and work instructions) are accurate and updated according to schedule
- Assist with performance management and succession planning processes and programs
Support broader/organizational-wide HR initiatives and programs, as requested and assigned (e.g. organizational design, performance management, change management, leadership alignment, facilitation, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources
- 8+ years’ experience in Human Resources with competencies in recruitment and Employee or Labour Relations
- CPHR designation an asset
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and other relevant legislation
- Knowledge of Human Resources best practices
- Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills, and ability to develop strong relationships
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals, results driven
- Coaching skills, with proven problem-solving and conflict resolution ability
- Demonstrated strong organizational and analytical skills
