Labourer

POSITION SUMMARY Laborers required to assist skilled trades people and perform labor activities at our various project sites.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   POSITION DETAILS

  • Project starts in July
  • 2-3 month project duration
  • Work is local to the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area
  • Preference will be given to local candidates

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices.
  • Assist with installation, testing and rigging of pipe spools and materials
  • Clean construction work areas and fuel equipment as needed.
  • Zoom boom and skid steer experience an asset
  • Perform other activities as directed
  • Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them
  • Return tools back to the proper area after the job is complete or at the end of the shift
  • Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks 

QUALIFICATIONS Training

  • Must have valid H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Protection, and EWP tickets

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors

Apprentice Pipefitter

POSITION SUMMARY Apprentice Pipefitters possess the full range of knowledge required to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for oil, steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   POSITION DETAILS

  • Project starts in July
  • 2-3 month project duration
  • Work is local to the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Read and interpret red-line construction drawings and blueprints (Isometrics, P&ID’s, etc.)
  • Assist journeyperson pipefitters with the installation of equipment, pipe, and structural steel on site 
  • Assemble piping and valves in module and compressor packages
  • Prepare pipe and fittings for tacking, hoisting, and rigging
  • Hydrotest, assemble, and install pipe spools in the fabrication facility
  • Measure, cut, and thread pipe to the required shape
  • Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate systems

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must be a registered Apprentice with the appropriate provincial or federal authority

Training

Intermediate Measurement Technician

Position Highlights:

Key Responsibilities:
·       Review and update metering schematics to ensure regulatory and operational accuracy

·       Provide regulatory guidance for new developments in partnership with Engineering
·       Offer operational insight into field testing and measurement best practices

Who You Are:
·       3–5+ years of experience in field measurement, regulatory compliance, or oil & gas operations
·       Strong understanding of AER Directives; D-017 specifically, but D-060 and 076 are an asset
·       Background in instrumentation, operations, or measurement is a strong asset
·       Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
·       Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently at remote sites
·       Clear communicator and capable technical writer
·       Experience with schematics, separation systems, or test setups is considered an advantage

Intermediate/Senior Environmental Specialist

SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced intermediate or senior level land reclamation and restoration professional to join the Reclamation, Remediation and Risk Management (RRRM) Division as an Environmental Specialist (Competition #25-06-0711) with a primary focus on Reclamation work scopes. This is a position that will be a combination of office and field duties. Candidates located in Calgary, Lloydminster, and Grande Prairie will be considered.

JOB DUTIES:

You will carry out your duties in consultation with RRRM Project Managers. The primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Technical oversight, supervision, and mentoring on a variety of reclamation site assessments, wellsite, facility and pipeline surface reclamation assessment projects
  • Project planning, coordination, execution and management both in field and in the office
  • Vegetation monitoring assessments, Detailed Site Assessments on Forested and Peat Lands, tree plant program supervision coordination
  • Proficiency assessing forested soils/vegetation and peatland classification/vegetation
  • Supervision of third parties, field staff and office staff as required
  • Field and reporting experience with Phase I, II, and III ESA’s
  • Data interpretation, analysis and reporting
  • Budget preparation and control
  • Maintenance of client relationships
  • Third-party stakeholder interactions
  • Participation in company and client specific health and safety programs

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Geologists, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development and health and safety professionals, and an in-house IT department.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree or diploma from a recognized institution with a specialty in environmental engineering, agrology, conservation and reclamation, or geoscience
  • Five to ten years of consulting or industry experience in environmental site assessment and reclamation
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, with a relevant professional organization (e.g. APEGA, APEGS, AIA, ASPB)
  • Professional designation or potential to obtain professional designation from a professional association in Alberta and Saskatchewan (e.g. APEGA, APEGS, AIA, ASPB)
  • Proficient with Alberta regulations and guidelines related to surface reclamation
  • Proficiency with both the Alberta 2010 Forested Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities and the Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities for Peatlands (2017)
  • Familiarity with BC restoration guidelines and best practices is an asset
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project team environment
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership and work independently
  • Excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills

Estimator

POSITION SUMMARY The Estimator leads in the development of an overall strategy and assists with the execution plan. Responsibilities include preparing bids, requests for quotes, quantitative take offs, preparation of tender submissions, pre-construction conceptual estimates, and project schedules.  The Estimator works with the execution teams to collect and analyze ongoing benchmarking information.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Maintain bid documents records of receipt and distribution
  • Review, analyze and check for completeness of bid documents
  • Summarize quantities and prepare spreadsheets for alternate and separate prices as required for tenders
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing system for all bids and proposals
  • Obtain, review and compile subcontractor quotations.  Advise of changes in subcontractor information for file update
  • Prepare bid sheets on specialty subcontractors
  • Prepare initial cost summary for project
  • Attend project start up meetings with the area manager as required
  • Quantify take-offs of direct work items for tender submissions and for sub-trade work as required for conceptual estimate submissions
  • Assist with tender closing and delivery of tenders as required
  • Query consultants as required to resolve ambiguities/errors/omissions in tender documents prior to tender closing

QUALIFICATIONS Education 

  • Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree (i.e. business administration, trade certificate) is preferred

Experience

  • Five years’ experience in oil and gas construction industry with hands-on experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • Exceptional understanding of the disciplines and cycles relevant to construction projects
  • Experience in producing both small and large plant facility cost estimates and plans
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with industry standard estimating software, as well as MS Excel and MS Project
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
