Senior Geologist

Lynx has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Geologist, with a specific focus on the Mannville Oil fairway in the greater Provost area. This full-time position is located in our Calgary office and reports directly to the Chief New Ventures and Business Development Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering and geoscience teams to plan and execute development drilling programs.
  • Includes pre-spud geology packages, directional plans, offset data and active geo-steering during drilling operations.
  • Interpret and incorporate offset geological drilling and production data to optimize well strategy, placement and efficiencies. Monitor area competitor activity, development strategies and results.
  • Monitor land sale activity and proactively seek out area opportunities for drilling inventory growth, including step out exploitation, land swaps and other A&D activity.
  • In collaboration with area engineers, responsible for area reserves reconciliation, long range planning and annual budgets/production performance modeling.
  • Perform CBM/shallow gas evaluation duties as required

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology
  • 15+ years of geology experience, including:
  • Wellsite geology or operations/geosteering background, with experience in heavy oil horizontal and multilateral drilling preferred.
  • Familiarity with heavy oil water and/or polymer enhanced oil recovery projects.
  • Track record of detailed appraisal of development prospects within the Mannville Group of formations within the greater Provost area.
  • Ability to clearly and confidently communicate with field and office staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Registered membership with APEGA and in good standing

Apprentice Pipefitter

POSITION SUMMARY Apprentice Pipefitters possess the full range of knowledge required to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for oil, steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.   Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.   Note: This posting will be used to collect applications to fill current openings as well as anticipated future openings. Future openings are anticipated but not guaranteed. POSITION DETAILS

  • Shop/Module Yard work
  • Hours are 7am – 5pm, 50 hours/week
  • Shop Location Crossfield, Alberta

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Read and interpret red-line construction drawings and blueprints (Isometrics, P&ID’s, etc.)
  • Assist journeyperson pipefitters with the installation of equipment, pipe, and structural steel on site 
  • Assemble piping and valves in module and compressor packages
  • Prepare pipe and fittings for tacking, hoisting, and rigging
  • Hydrotest, assemble, and install pipe spools in the fabrication facility
  • Measure, cut, and thread pipe to the required shape
  • Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate systems

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • Must be a registered Apprentice with the appropriate provincial or federal authority or plan to pursue the welding apprenticeship program

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in various aspects of the trade

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all duties associated with the operations of the Used Drill Pipe Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) Unit, including the everyday operation, maintenance, size change-over, and the standardization of the inspection unit. Has the responsibility for the timely completion of the job, the quality of work, safety at the jobsite and performance of the job to specifications and Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Must coordinate with their supervisor to verify the daily work schedule and is responsible for organizing the inspection crew and assigning individual crewmember duties.
  • Monitors the inspection crewmember’s performance of all aspects of the inspection service to ensure that it meets Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedure requirements, API, DS-1, and/or ASTM specifications, practices and standards, and customer requirements.
  • Is responsible for monitoring the Used Drill Pipe Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) Unit recording console to determine the classification of the inspected material. 
  • Supervises inspection prove-up personnel and is responsible for recording prove-up results and recording rejected or reclassified material. 
  • Responsible for completion of the required paperwork, including Inspection Reports and Tally Reports, upon job completion. Completed reports must be promptly submitted to the appropriate supervisor for review and processing.
  • Perform the required Used Drill Pipe Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI) Unit maintenance and repair and will coordinate the ordering of unit inspection equipment, part, and supplies with the appropriate manager. 
    Operator may also perform other inspection duties, such as assistant operator, inspection prove-up, or other duties as assigned. 
  • Any other duties not listed may be assigned by the Division Manager. 

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School or GED equivalent preferred. 
  • A minimum of two (2) years used Drill Pipe Inspection experience. 
  • Knowledge and experience in oilfield tubulars and pipe handling will be required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the inspection related portions of applicable API publications and Customer Specifications and/or requirements.
  • Field experience would be an asset.
  • Prior experience in the inspection of used tubing & casing would be an preferred.
  • Travel is required and must possess a valid driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract. Must disclose a three-year driving history to include all accidents, violations, or suspensions on their abstract.

 

HSE Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a shop and yard environment. Possibility to be exposed to dust, fumes or gases and changes of temperature/humidity.  
  • Physical requirements: squatting, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting up to 23 kilograms, walking on rough ground, and working near moving equipment.
  • Required to at all times wear proper protective clothing and equipment and perform duties in a safe manner.

Contract Field Operator – Oil & Gas

ROK Resources currently has an opening for the position of Field Operator. Reporting to the Area Foreman, the Field Operator will be the onsite operator of the Field Equipment. The primary focus of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operation, inspection, maintenance, alteration and repair of the field equipment. In addition, maintaining accurate records and submissions of all necessary documents and reports, in relation to the Field Equipment. The candidate must be a self-motivated team player with good communication, mechanical and computer skills for day-to-day work requirements.

As a part of this challenging role, you will specifically be responsible for:

  • All aspects of safety and regulatory compliance with your designated work area
  • Performing safety responsibilities such as, hazard assessments safe work permitting and equipment LOTO
  • Ensuring optimization of wells & compressors, run times and production
  • Coordinating outside services and providing direction
  • Ensuring proper permits are obtained
  • Using personal protection equipment required to meet all current regulatory standards and the Corporation’s Health and Safety policies

 

Oversee the timely notification of the following:

  • Breakdowns or defects in the Field Equipment requiring replacement or repair
  • Unsafe conditions or any security issues
  • Accidents and incidents affecting health or safety that may result in personal injury
  • Incidents resulting in impairment of the environment
  • Incidents of losses to the Field Equipment and production loss
  • Ensure the necessity for the protection of life, health, property and the environment in the event of fire, flood, storm, explosion, serious accident or any emergency
  • Obtain written approval by the Foreman prior to conducting any operations relating to the Field Equipment that are beyond the scope of day-to-day maintenance and operating activities, including without limitation, any non-routine maintenance, repairs and alterations. This would include any modifications, expansions, deletions or additions to existing facilities, the removal of existing facilities or the installation of new facilities

 

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Preference will be given to 3-5 years minimum experience in oil and gas field operating and trades tickets considered an asset.
  • Gas compression, Dehy, Oil battery Facility, Plunger lift systems, Pump Jack experience, sweet and sour production
  • Contract position, 8/6 shift-Wage based on experience

 

LOCATION: Kaybob Area

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be legally able to work in Canada

All safety tickets, H2S, First Aid, Confined space awareness, WHMIS, TDG, Ground disturbance level 2, ISC 100

Fuel Provided while on shift

Camp provided if outside of the Fox Creek/Whitecourt areas
